Hello!

So how did we get here?
Well, like most things,
it starts with a good story
We’re about to scoot back in time a decade, so grab some neck support and prepare yourself for a wild ride through history
(AND DON’T MIND US IF WE SWEAR A LITTLE…)
About
a decade ago, Corina had a wedding.

Believe it or not, this unicorn-haired trailblazer wasn’t always quite so outspoken. A big, traditional wedding was what was expected of her, both by her family and by a very pushy media and industry, and so that’s exactly the wedding she had.

A few years later, the unthinkable happened
Corina unexpectedly lost her father and one of her best friends within mere days of each other.
In times of grief, struggle, and despair, the people who supported her were a small portion of the faces who she had worked so hard to please in her time of joy.
She blinked and the expectations she had been held to were suddenly *BULLSHIT*.
And when this girl starts questioning something, you bet she’s going to do her research.
So when Corina started her wedding planning business, Your Personal Fairy Tale in 2015, she focused on planning custom weddings that didn’t conform to anyone’s expectations and instead focused on the true desires of the couple.
In 2019, a young upstart coming from the world of inclusive summer camps found this message very appealing. Sydney sent Corina her resume in an email that Corina still gushes about as “the greatest application [she has] ever read in [her] history of hiring”.
Sydney likes words.

So Corina invited Sydney to join the team as an event assistant, and be Number One when making wedding day magic happen.
Together this dynamic duo proved they were able to make those details come together as no one else could!

Then in 2020, the world fell to shit. And by that, we mean that there was a big ol’ pandemic called COVID-19. (Honestly, it’s a bit weird that we have to tell you that. It was kind of big news!)
Already considering directing her business to focus solely on intimate weddings, Corina found the perfect reason to rebrand. Shortening guest limits comes with shortening business names and Your Personal Fairy Tale became YPF Weddings & Co.
While laid off from her job at a gym for – You guessed it, falling over and destroying her knee while jogging a short distance – Sydney was able to spend more time working with Corina and building ideas for the future of YPF.
Their super-neurodivergent brains came together in an explosion of unicorn feathers and wood chips and Corina decided the pairing was so good, she’d tell Sydney where she kept the secret stash of cookies in the office.

Together they got into cyclic conversations about responsible business practices, human-centric design, pretty stuff, and injustice. Sydney pointed out that the Instagram handle Corina had been using for years was the strongest conversation starter around. And thus, rebrand number three happened and The Un-Wedding Movement was born.
Here we are today, the Un-Wedding Planners of the Un-Wedding Movement, operated by YPF Weddings & Co. Inc.
We are dedicated to each event so that nothing ever feels like it’s done because “that’s how it’s always been done”. We are believers and students of experience design and purpose-driven experiences.
Weddings are an investment into the life you as partners are building together. You wouldn’t invest in your future by paying for stocks in someone else’s name, so why invest your emotions, time, and money into the expectations of someone else?
Instead, we help you discover the purpose behind your wedding, which will guide you through the whole planning process and help to ensure we create a wedding that is authentic to who you are and how you want to celebrate.
When you plan an Un-Wedding, you’re saying fuck the rules, this is who we are and how we love and this is how we are going to celebrate it
We happen to like people who talk like that

Corina’s professionalism and reliability made working with her a pleasure. She provided us with advice, guidance, and contacts, and really paid attention to the details.
The wedding planning process for us was relatively stress-free because we knew she had our backs. We didn’t worry about any logistics on the day of because she had it taken care of. Highly recommend!

Hi there! I’m Corina! While I wear many hats around here officially I’m the Founding Partner and Lead Un-Wedding Planner & Designer for the Un-Wedding Movement.
I love to travel, study and interpret history, cook & bake (and eat!), play both board & video games, and hang out with my husband Jon.
I describe myself as an unapologetic, neurodivergent unicorn, here to not only plan fabulous experiences but to help my clients plan a wedding that puts the focus on that what truly matters.
I hold certifications in both wedding planning (WPICC) and destination wedding planning (DWC) from The Wedding Planners Institute of Canada, as well as hold LGBTQ+ inclusive certification (CIP) from Equally Wed. Since becoming a wedding planner in 2015, I’ve had opportunities to plan weddings and events of all shapes and sizes – from tiny elopements all the way up to festivals for the City of Edmonton, and have been featured in several national publications and podcasts.

why i love
weddings
Weddings more so than any other type of event allow us to connect in meaningful ways and share who we are with those we love the most – helping my clients discover what their weddings can become and then creating that for them is *chef’s kiss*.
my favourite weddings to plan
- I love planning weddings that are fun, focus on personal details, and are at least a little unorthodox – the more outside the box, the better
- I love a solid theme and a bold colour palette – I don’t think they are tacky when done right
My personal
design style
For me, experience is EVERYTHING – not just for my clients, but for their guests too. From the chosen design elements down to the day-of timeline, I focus on how each detail will build on the next – to create something that’s intentional and impactful.

Hello, I’m Sydney. I would describe myself as half snooty-gentry-type-in-
When not obsessing over progressive, collaborative business practices or how to create complete immersion in an event, I like to hide in my cave (a.k.a. basement apartment) with books, art, music, and my cat Berlioz.
After a decade working in the summer camp world – reinforced with stints in education, tourism, retail, food service, disability advocacy, community organizing, and film & television – I realized I loved creating joyful experiences and setting the stage for some pretty epic memory building. I was certified as a wedding planner in 2016, and as a destination wedding planner in 2022 by the Wedding Planner’s Institute of Canada. I finally found Corina as my mentor in 2019 and in 2021 became a partner in YPF. She’s the Picard to my Riker, and there’s no looking back.
I’m anti-racism, anti-ableism, pro-land-back, pro-weed, pro-gay, pro-choice, pro-trans, pro-fat, and pro-hoe. In the words of Bob Dylan, “Either be groovy or leave, man.”

why i love
weddings
A wedding is a celebration of a promise and a choice. We make choices hundreds of times each day, but this choice is to allow another human to share a life beside us. One big enough that we ask those we love to witness the promises made. What could be a better reason to celebrate?
my favourite weddings to plan
- Bring me the lovers who are grounded in themselves and their relationship
- Those that feature some kind of unusual concept or an element of surprise
- The more immersive the experience, the better
My personal
design style
Rich colour and texture, wild and natural elements, classic lines and touches. No person is one thing, nor does design have to be. I love a little bit of comfortable chaos – finding ways to shake the ground below you while ensuring you never lose your balance.
